Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the services offered on the Web sites at citizensparty.online, citizensparty.org.au and its subdomains, operated by the Australian Citizens Party (ABN 96 864 903 379).

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the Australia Citizens Party Web sites. Usage of the Web sites is conditional upon you agreeing to be bound by this Privacy Policy. By interacting with these Web sites, you agree that we can use information about you in accordance with this policy.

The Australian Citizens Party recognises the importance of your privacy, and that you have a right to control how your personal information is collected and used. As a registered political party, the Australian Citizens Party is exempt from the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988, however the Australian Citizens Party values protecting your privacy and in doing so follows current Australian best practice guidelines and the spirit and intent of the Privacy Act to ensure your privacy is protected. Whilst all reasonable measures have been taken to ensure your safety and privacy, users are advised that there are inherent risks in transmitting information across the internet.

Personal Information

Personal information provided to the Australian Citizens Party, normally includes your name, phone, email, address, and any preferences chosen by you, and information collected through their websites helps us customise your online experience. We will not share your information with anyone else, except where legally allowed, or required (such as for donations to Australian Citizens Party and petitions to the Australian Parliament). We do not store credit card information.

No personal information will be disclosed to any third party outside the Australian Citizens Party unless one of the following applies:

  • the individual has consented,
  • the individual would reasonably expect, or has been told, that information of that kind is usually passed to those individuals, bodies or agencies,
  • it is required or authorised by law,
  • it will prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to somebody's life or health,
  • the disclosure is reasonably necessary for the enforcement of the criminal law or of a law imposing a pecuniary penalty, or for the protection of public revenue.

Donations

Donations up to $1,500 to registered political parties may be tax deductible.

Under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, the Australian Citizens Party is required to disclose certain information related to donations. When a donation is made, we will record the necessary information, but do not store credit card information.

All donations from a single entity totalling over $14,500 are subject to the disclosure under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918. This is why we require your personal details when making a donation.

Online Forms

Individuals completing our online forms will have their contact details stored on password protected databases. Staff members have access to our website’s backend system which is password protected with multifactor authentication. Our website server, hosted by our internet service provider, is also password protected with multifactor authentication.

We may contact you at the email or other address which you provide to us to provide you with updates, or to contact you in relation to a contribution. By supplying your email address, you may receive news and updates via email as well as official correspondence pursuant to the Australian Citizens Party constitution.

As stated above, the Australia Citizens Party will not use or disclose any information unless requested by you, as required by law or if we believe it necessary to provide you with a service you have requested.

Mailing Lists

All e-mails sent via our mailing lists will clearly identify the Australian Citizens Party as the sender and will include a suitable method for unsubscribing or changing preferences.

Statistical Data

When an individual browses our websites, our systems make a record of the individual’s visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

  • the individual’s server address,
  • the individual’s top level domain name,
  • the pages the individual accessed and documents downloaded,
  • the previous site the individual visited, and
  • the type of browser being used.

We do not identify users or their browsing activities except, in the event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the internet service provider's server logs.

Trackers

Our websites use trackers to monitor how visitors find and use our site. We report on this activity in aggregate and use this information for the purposes of improving our website and how we engage our audience.

In addition to these, your browser may load trackers from external third-party services when you use a page on our website. These trackers are specific to the third-party and accordingly the data held in them can be seen and managed by the third party and not by us.

We use a variety of widely used third-party plugins to help improve your experience while using our site. We control whether or not we use the third-party service with our website, and how it is integrated and presented on our website. We do not have control over the trackers themselves. No personal information is maintained which might identify an individual should they visit our website at a later date.

If you have concerns about the privacy implications of the trackers we use, you can block trackers using the cookie management tools in your web browser. Please note that blocking cookies may affect the functionality of some elements of our website and online services.

Whilst every attempt has been made to protect visitors’ privacy, the Australia Citizens Party accept no fault if these systems result in a breach of privacy.
